Solar Wire & Wind Turbine Cable

Allied Wire & Cable’s line of Solar Wire & Wind Turbine Cable consists of our WTTC rated Wind Power Cable, Solar PV Wire and Alpha's EcoWire™. Wind turbine cable requires high quality, durability and high performance to withstand the rigors of wind power environments. Wind turbine cables can be exposed to several different forces, including Mother Nature. Oil, solvent, chemical and fuel resistant, our wind turbine cable can withstand these forces and more.

Allied carries five different types of wind turbine cable, and all five types are WTTC, 1000 volt rated, constructed of bare copper conductors. All five types are WTTC, 1000 volt rated, constructed of bare copper conductors. Standard Flex and Megaflex Wind Turbine Cable have solid polyvinyl chloride fillers, while VFD and Premium Flex Wind Power Cable have FR-Fibrillated Polypropylene filler. While Standard Flex Wind Power Cable has nylon tape insulation, Megaflex and Premium Flex cable have expanded polytetrafluoroethylene tape insulation. WTTC Rated Servo Cable differs from them all in that it does not have taped insulation or fillers.

EcoWire™ is a low environmental impact cable that can replace typical PVC hook-up wire. The Modified Polyphenylene Ether (mPPE) insulation is more durable, lighter and has a much smaller diameter than regular PVC. It also has better dielectric strength, which is what allows for the smaller diameter.

Our Solar PV Wire consists of an insulated, non-integrally jacketed single conductor. It is sunlight resistant and rated for 90°C wet or dry at 600V for interconnection wiring of grounded and ungrounded photovoltaic power systems. Other popular choices throughout the solar industry are USE-2 wire and THHN Cable.

The UL requires WTTC rated cable for use as wind turbine cable. This rating is relatively new; in the past, there were no specific ratings given to wind turbine cable. As a result any cable could be used, which led to costly maintenance and repairs. Using a WTTC rated cable will not only help you save on repair costs, but will help you get the most out of your application as well.

EcoWire meets both RoHS and WEEE requirements, the mPPE will degrade over time and it is recyclable. It also contains no halogens or other hazardous materials, which can be dangerous if the cable ever burns. However, it has a great operating temperature range of -40°C to 105°C and is flame resistant.
