Allied Wire & Cable Supports Disaster Relief for Hurricane Harvey

Our hearts, thoughts and prayers go out to all those individuals affected by Hurricane Harvey.

Hurricane Harvey has displaced more than 1 million people in Texas and Louisiana as well as led to the losses of several dozen lives. About 200,000 homes were affected by this storm, which heaved winds measured at 130 miles per hour and dumped about 50 inches of rainfall in Texas, with more than 40,000 people forced to stay in shelters. Flooding and storm damage in these states is estimated to cost as much as $100 billion—with some saying much more—making Hurricane Harvey one of the costliest disasters in recorded U.S. history. Accuweather projects a $190 billion impact on the economy.

Sadly, another storm has wreaked havoc only days after Hurricane Harvey struck the South. Hurricane Irma is the most powerful Atlantic hurricane in recorded history, packing winds of 185 miles per hour. Hurricane Irma has already destroyed buildings and caused flooding on several Caribbean islands, and the path of this walloping storm includes Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Cuba and perhaps Florida.

We’re many months from knowing exactly how much damage Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma will cause in the United States and nearby lands. Every act of goodwill and dollar donated can help affected communities recover, restore and rebuild at this time of absolute tremendous need. The Allied Wire & Cable family has already donated $10,000 to support American Red Cross assistance with Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. Our owners have pledged to make an additional disaster relief donation to support those affected by Hurricane Irma.

Red Cross Assistance - Allied Wire and Cable Lend a Hand

“We have heard about many tragedies, and there are going to be more tragedies that we will hear about in the days ahead,” said Tim Flynn, Allied Wire & Cable CEO. “We’re also going to hear about great stories of the sacrifices people have made to help one another.”

The Allied Wire & Cable team encourages all our families, customers, associates and social media followers to make their own disaster relief donations on the Red Cross website.
