3/0 Gauge THHN Building Wire

THHN 3/0 19 wire is part of our large hook-up and lead wire catalog. THHN is an acronym that is defined as a wire with thermoplastic materials (T) suitable for high heat (HH) insulated with a nylon jacket.[1] This robust wiring is both flame retardant as well as heat resistant. The thermoplastic material used is polyvinyl chloride (PVC). This wiring can be installed in dry or damp locations, which will allow for operating temperatures up to 90°C (194°F), or in wet locations with a maximum temperature of 75°C (167°F). It is important to note that heat impacts thermoplastic insulation more than thermoset insulation, so if the wiring is used in raceways or cables that are exposed to sunlight on rooftops, it is recommended that these be covered.[2]

THHN 3/0 building wire is used for general purpose applications as set forward by the National Electrical Code (NEC). Permitting is a local function, but in most cases, 3/0 AWG THHN wire is permitted for use in new construction as well as in doing rewiring up to 600v with an ampacity of 225.

Features

This wire features a 3/0 AWG 19-stranded bare copper conductor, PVC insulation, and a Nylon jacket.
