ETFE, which is short for ethylene tetrafluoroethylene, is a chemical compound used as insulation for wire and cable products. ETFE is popular because of its high corrosion resistance and mechanical strength. This fluorine-based plastic is commonly referred to as its brand name, Tefzel, trademarked by Teflon. Like Teflon, this material is nonstick.

While commonly compared to Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), ETFE is significantly stronger and has a high chemical resistance. ETFE is ideal for applications that require durability and have the possibility of exposure to high temperatures and chemicals.
