Monday, January 9, 2017:
FYI to our valued customers: recently unknown perpetrators have been sending out "spoofed" emails to some of our various accounts and contacts - malicious messages forging our signature in a manner that makes them appear to be coming from Allied Wire & Cable employees when in fact, they are not.
Examples of ones brought to our attention may have come from the email address “email@example.com. The email message may say "Please find attached our order requirements", and then followed by what appears to be an attached PDF file. The file name may be "doc_2017_94934034_", or something very similar.
The email may appear to be coming from our address "firstname.lastname@example.org", or from any other @awcwire.com address.
Should you receive such an email, please DO NOT CLICK ON OR ATTEMPT TO DOWNLOAD THE ATTACHMENT, or click ANY link in the email. The link is not a PDF file, but appears to instead go to a malicious website.
If you receive any emails like this - even if it appears to come from someone you know at Allied Wire & Cable! - please DELETE the email without clicking anything in it, and notify your Allied Wire & Cable representative that you received it.
