Spread The Joy
Allied Wire & Cable has always believed in helping out those less fortunate whenever possible. While some people might consider this generosity, we just think it is the right thing to do! We all have the responsibility to help out our fellow Americans who have fallen on desperate times. For Charity Week this year, we held our second annual vote to see who you wanted the charity to be, because your orders supply the donation. It was a tight race, but you picked the Make-A-Wish Foundation® for the second consecutive year!
Between December 13th and 17th,
Allied Wire & Cable will donate a percentage of all sales
to the Make-A-Wish Foundation®
The Make-A-Wish Foundation is a wonderful organization that helps the families of children with life threatening medical conditions make their child’s dream come true. The dream could be as simple as a new computer, a Walt Disney trip, or being a fire chief for a day. No matter what the dream, you are bringing smiles to a family that has not had much to smile about.
With the average wish costing $7,000, we hope to raise enough funds the week before Christmas to grant 2-3 wishes. Every purchase made during that time will help turn a child’s wish into a reality.
In the true spirit of the holidays, Allied Wire & Cable will also donate $250 each to the other charities that were featured in the vote: ASPCA, Coalition to
Salute America’s Heroes, Meals On Wheels Association of America and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Help us make wishes come true this holiday season. Together we can make a difference.
Charity Week Through the Years
- 2009- Because the proceeds of your orders make up the donation, we asked you to vote on the charity that would receive the big check in 2009. For the first time, customers and vendors voted in a month-long poll on the AWC website to choose the main beneficiary of Charity Week. You voted for the Make-a-Wish Foundation and we raised $9223.31! Make-a-Wish received a check for $7727.31 to help grant the wishes of ill children, while the other charities included in our poll split the remaining $1500. American Farmland Trust, the ASPCA, Autism Speaks, the Coalition to Support America’s Heroes, Meals on Wheels, and Susan G. Komen for the Cure were awarded with donations of $250 each. Read more »
- 2008- Charity Week 2008 benefitted the Make-a-Wish Foundation of Philadelphia and the Susquehanna Valley, an organization dedicated to giving children with life-threatening medical conditions an opportunity to live their dreams and create some wonderful memories. In 2008, the money raised helped grant not just one wish, but two! Read more »
- 2007- “Charity begins at home” was our Charity Week motto in 2007. In July of ’07, Allied’s long-time receptionist, Phyllis Rose, was diagnosed with lung cancer and was told that it had spread to several other organs. Phyllis had to undergo intense radiation and chemotherapy in addition to taking numerous medications each day, all of which added up to an extraordinary financial toll on her and her family. With your help, nearly $1500 was raised to help offset Phyllis’s medical costs. Read more »
- 2006- In 2006, Allied hosted its first official Charity Week! With your help, we raised over $8000 for the Make-a-Wish Foundation of Philadelphia and Southeastern Pennsylvania. With wishes costing an average of $7000 each, Allied was able to complete one full wish of a child with a life-threatening illness, and to contribute to a second wish as well! Read more »
