Major Acquisition Moves Allied into Southeast

Progressive Wire and Cable

We are extremely proud to announce that Allied has acquired Progressive Wire & Cable!  With this acquisition, we now have our first stocking facility in the southeastern US and two new office locations. In addition, seven new faces have joined the Allied Family in PWC's previous headquarters and stocking location in Tampa, FL and the sales offices in Houston, TX and Atlanta, GA.

"Our customers kept asking us when we were going to open a branch in the Southeast," Tim Flynn, CEO of Allied, said. "We have answered their call … and are very excited about the expansion, which will mean even better, faster service to our customers down South."

Progressive built their niche market in industrial, commercial, utility and government products for over 7 years before being acquired by Allied. Now their reps bring that expertise with them to Allied and our customers.

Existing PWC customers now have access to Allied's extensive product catalog, expanded far beyond the scope of PWC's original niche markets, as well as multiple stocking and shipping locations which will not only offer them faster service with our "In By One" guarantee, but also our Value-Added Services. And Allied's customers will benefit from Progressive's expertise in industrial, building and tray cable products, in addition to receiving faster shipments in the South with the new stocking location.

This acquisition comes only a year-and-a-half after we opened our newest branch in Las Vegas, NV, added to better serve the West Coast. With the 5 reps we added last month, Allied is continuing to grow so we can continue to offer you the best service in the industry.

Allied Family Growth Demands More Sales Reps

Allied Company Growth

There are many new faces in the Allied Family this month! Along with the 7 we acquired from Progressive, we have another new Sales Representative in our New Hampshire branch, Alex Officer. From Progressive: Jason Bush, Nicole Lucas and Sean Keeney in PWC's previous headquarters and stocking location in Tampa, FL; Hank Brown, Charlie & Toni Shields in TX; and Gary Lott and Ted Bruno in Atlanta, GA.

Many of the former Progressive reps bring years of experience in wire and cable with them to Allied, while we also continue to introduce new talent to the industry with fresh new faces. We are very glad to have each of them become part of our sales team, where they will add their knowledge and experience and give their customers access to Allied's diverse inventory of wire and cable products.

Please join us in welcoming Alex and everyone from Progressive Wire & Cable to their new home! For more information on each of them, please visit our Key People page.

Joke of the Month!

Jim had an awful day fishing on the lake, sitting in the blazing sun all day without catching a single one. On his way home, he stopped at the supermarket and ordered four catfish. He told the fish salesman, "Pick four large ones out and throw them at me, will you?"

"Why do you want me to throw them at you?"

"Because I want to tell my wife that I caught them."

"Okay, but I suggest that you take the orange roughy."

"But why?"

"Because your wife came in earlier today and said that if you came by, I should tell you to take orange roughy. She prefers that for

supper tonight."

The term "shipboard cable" covers a wide range of wire options. Different shipboard cables can be used for power, communication, control, lighting, electronics, instrumentation, and even other specialized applications. They are also diverse in terms of the people who use them: everyone from the U.S. Navy to recreational boaters. Read on for more info on Shipboard Cable

Local Students Build Electric Vehicle Using Allied Wire
Students from Dallastown High School's Metal Technology class have completed some very impressive projects over the past few years, including a boat and trailer, and a classic hot rod. Allied has been more than happy to donate the scrap wire used in these projects, and was thrilled to help with this year's build: an electric vehicle. We first introduced this project back in October, and now the final results are in. Below is a photo of teacher, Matt Chilcoat with his Metal Technology students, and their completed electric buggy. Amazing job, guys! Click here to see the final project
