Allied Brings on Board an Industry Vet

Russ Lawson

Allied's kicking off 2016 with a new addition to the sales team in our New Hampshire location. Russ Lawson comes to Allied with several years of wire and cable experience under his belt — and not to mention expertise in many different areas of the business. Russ has been working in the industry for the last twenty years, where he's held positions in warehouse operations, sales, and supply chain roles. Russ is a promising, well-rounded industry vet, whose knowledge and experience will be an extreme asset to Allied customers. and we look forward to seeing how he uses his previous experience to serve our valued customers here at Allied.

Prior to starting his job as a sales representative at AWC, Russ worked for A.E. Petsche Co. He spent the majority of his ten years there working as an inside sales account representative. Towards the end of his career with the company, Russell transitioned from a sales rep to an onsite buyer/seller.

Russell's wire and cable exposure dates back even longer however, as he got his start in the industry with Manhattan/CDT in 1995. He worked for Manhattan/CDT for 10 years as the Warehouse Operations Manager.

Here at Allied, our main goal is to provide our customers with the best service possible, and given his experience, Russ will fit right in. He says, "I'm excited about coming on board with AWC and I look forward to the opportunity to provide AWC customers with exceptional service."

We're pleased to have Russ on our team and we look forward to all the ways in which he will be a valuable resource to our customers. To learn a little more about our newest Allied team member, read the full press release here.

Now Carrying Rowe's UL 3644

Rowe's UL 3644

Recently Rowe Industries was approved to manufacture UL 3644, and as an authorized distributor for Rowe, Allied is carrying it. Rowe UL 3644 is high temp lead wire, used primarily for the internal wiring of appliances when they're totally enclosed.

Rowe's UL 3644 has only a single extrusion of silicone, which translates into less manufacturing processes, meaning lower prices. It's also lightweight and formed from base silicone rubber and free of fiberglass. This means there are no fraying issues, a reduced number of splices, and better tensile strength, abrasion, and cut resistance as compared to other similar products on the market, most notably Sil-A-Blend.

To learn more about Rowe's UL 3644, view full UL3644 specs or get in contact with your rep at 800-472-4655.

AWC's Traveling Great Lengths

Singapore Airshow 2016

This upcoming February, Allied's making their way across the globe. And no we're not taking a leisurely road trip to help cope with those after-the-holidays blues (although that does sound like a mighty fine idea). Instead, we're attending the Singapore Airshow — Asia's largest airshow, in which leading aerospace companies from across the globe join together. And as a globally recognized distributor with the largest inventory of US approved military cable in the world, we figured this was an event that we couldn't pass up.

The airshow runs from February 16th-20th, so if you're in the area, we encourage you to set up a meeting with us to learn all about the popular mil-spec cables we offer.

Charity Week 2015 Check Presentations

We wanted to make our 10th Annual Charity Week special, and with your help, we certainly did! We raised a total of $18,204.25 that we split between four local charities that members from each of our branches are closely connected with. Enjoy the pictures from our check presentations with the American Diabetes Association (Florida), Marguerite’s Place (New Hampshire), and Pets for Vets (Pennsylvania). The check presentation with Shriners Hospitals for Children - Twin Cities takes place later this week, so keep an eye out for those pictures to come soon!

Straight from the Drawing Board: A Case Study about Custom SEOOW Cable

Custom Cable Case Study

For all you baseball fans out there, you probably know that the Atlanta Braves are in the process of building a new stadium. However, what you probably don't know is that Allied will be a part of it.

One of our customers is in the business of building stadium lighting, and came to us with a request for a cable to be used in these big stadium lights that will light up the Braves' new home field. Our customer knew he needed an SEOOW cord, however the number of conductors he needed to power this high mass lighting system wasn't in the standard offering for the cable. Fortunately for our customer (and the Braves when they have night games), we were able to design a custom sports lighting cable that met the needs for the application. Read more about the custom cable here.

Joke of the Month

Mama Bear and Papa Bear were getting a divorce. They were meeting with the judge, who asked Baby Bear if he wanted to live with Mama Bear. He responded, "No, she beats me."

"How about Papa Bear," the judge asked. "No he beats me too," said Baby Bear.

At a loss, the judge asked, "Well then, who do you want to live with?"

To which Baby Bear responded, "The Chicago Bears. They don't beat anybody."
