Referral Appreciation Program!

Allied's Referral Appreciation Program

We believe in giving our customers the best service possible, because we know it's the right thing to do. Allied Wire & Cable would not be the company it is today without our customers, and their loyalty. We have enjoyed unbelievable growth over the last few years, because of you. Not only do you give us your business, but you've also been spreading the word! And there's no better compliment than having a customer trust us enough to recommend us to the people they know.

Here at Allied, we don't want to just say thank you for sending new customers our way. We want to reward you for it! And so, we created our Referral Appreciation Program to do just that. Whenever you send us a referral, you'll get a $5 Amazon code from us as a special thank you. If that referral places an order, we'll also give you a gift card based on their first order amount!

Check out the gifts you'll earn when you refer someone to us:

  • For every validated referral – a $5 Amazon code
  • For a new order over $100 – a $10 Gift Card
  • For a new order over $500 – a $50 Gift Card
  • For a new order over $1000 – a $100 Gift Card

We've made it easier than ever to refer someone to Allied. You can either contact your account representative or visit http://www.awcwire.com/referral and fill out the simple form with your name and contact information, and the name and contact information of the person you'd like to refer. That's it! Just for filling out that form with a valid referral, you'll receive your free Amazon code. And if the person you refer places an order, you'll get to choose your own gift card!

Thank you for being loyal customers, we couldn't do this without you!

PTFE Prices Still on the Rise

Price Alert

The price of PTFE materials and other insulation materials continued their rise this month. Major producers of the materials have sent letters to our vendors stating their intent to raise prices in the coming weeks. The major manufacturers of PTFE cable products will have no choice but to increase their prices due to the increased costs and global demand.

There are two manufacturers that already announced price increases this month:

  • Unified Wire & Cable - 1.5% increase on all products, effective July 15, 2011
  • Hitachi Cable Manchester, effective June 20, 2011

The cost increases of PTFE and other Fluoropolymer materials are likely to continue throughout 2011 at least. Please visit our Price Increase Survival Guide for tips on lessening the burden of these increases, and check our Bargain Bin often for odd lengths of cable products at discounted prices.

Allied's Green Initiatives

Price Alert

Here at Allied, our "common sense, not dollars and cents" motto doesn't just stop at personnel. We also aim to play a positive role in the community, both locally and globally. One of the ways we're doing this is through our green initiatives. We are taking steps to minimize waste and run our company in greener ways, so we can greatly reduce our carbon footprint and our impact on the environment.

These are just some of the ways Allied is going green:

In the Warehouse

  • Recycling:
    • Corrugated Materials
    • Steel
    • Copper/Wire
    • Paper
  • Reusing:
    • Pallets: Wood and Plastic
    • Reels and Spools: Wood and Plastic
    • Dunnage: Packing Paper, Bubble Wrap, Slip Sheets, etc
  • Reducing Hazardous Materials
    • 30% reduction in MEK usage & waste
  • Installed an Enclosed Trash Compactor
    • Minimizes landfill use
    • Limits the amount of loose garbage that can blow around
    • Reduces the number of garbage pickups 3 to 1, which cuts fuel emissions

In the Office

  • Recycling:
    • Paper recycling bins are at every desk
  • Reusing:
    • We used second-hand cubicles made from recycled materials when we expanded our offices
  • E-mail Invoices
    • We now offer invoices by e-mail to reduce paper usage.
    • On your invoices, you may see the message "Save some trees, sign up for electronic invoices." If you'd like to switch to this option, just speak with our accounting department or email gogreen@awcwire.com.

It's all about doing our part to make the world a healthier place to live in and preserve the beautiful spaces on our planet for future generations. We'd love to hear how your company is going green, so send us an e-mail with your green initiatives to info@awcwire.com. Together, all of our small steps can make a big impact on the world around us.

Joke of the Month!

joke

An advertising team is working very late at night on a project due the next morning. Suddenly, a Genie appears before them and offers to each of them one wish.

The copywriter says: "I've always dreamed of writing the great American novel and having my work studied in schools across the land. I'd like to go to a tropical island where I can concentrate and write my masterpiece."

The Genie says, "No problem!" and poof! The copywriter is gone.

The art director says: "I want to create a painting so beautiful that it would hang in the Louvre Museum in Paris for all the world to admire. I want to go to the French countryside to work on my painting."

The Genie says, "Your wish is granted!" and poof! The art director is gone.

The Genie then turns to the account executive and says, "And what is your wish?"

The account executive says, "I want those two back here right now."

When choosing cable for a flex application, it is important to consider the specific type of flexing your cable will face. This is the key to finding cable that will be effective and cable that will last. If the wrong type of cable is chosen, it is likely that the jacket and insulation will break down quickly, costing you in both product replacements and downtime. Let’s take a look at the four types of flex so you can find the perfect flexing cable for your needs the first time around. Read more about the Four Types of Flex Cable
