Allied Receives Presidential Award for Excellence in Exporting

Presidential E Award

Allied has received the Presidential “E” Award for Exports in recognition of its contributions to the growth of U.S. export business. This is one of the highest honors available to American companies.

Allied President, CEO, and co-owner, Tim Flynn attended a formal ceremony in Washington D.C. on May 28th to accept the prestigious award, presented by U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker.

“The President’s ‘E’ Award winners are fantastic American businesses and organizations that have played a crucial role in strengthening and growing our economy through increased U.S. exports,” said Secretary Pritzker. “By selling Made-in-America goods and services internationally, U.S. businesses can grow faster, hire more employees, pay higher wages, and help spread American ideas, innovation and values. Congratulations to Allied Wire & Cable for its export achievement, which helps the local community, Pennsylvania, and the nation remain competitive in the global marketplace.”

According to Flynn, the ceremony was truly a sight to see, complete with a military honor guard, a formal letter from President Obama congratulating the award recipients and applauding their international business efforts, and a series of speeches from other government officials emphasizing the high regard in which the “E” Award is held in Washington.

The “E” Award program was established in 1961 by President Kennedy, and uses the “E” symbol of excellence from World War II to honor American exporters and their achievements. Allied Wire & Cable is proud to be one of 66 companies recognized this year.

Allied constantly strives to grow and improve its export capabilities for many reasons. Not only does it allow international customers to receive the same great service and quality “Made in USA” products our domestic customers receive, but serving new markets also allows us to provide more U.S. jobs and to do our part in building back the American economy.

Allied Wire – Cable that is Out of this World
Bringing Car Customizations to Light

Wire Out of This World

Auto enthusiasts are always looking for new ways to customize their cars, whether it comes to improving aesthetics or simply adding a unique feature that sets their automobile apart from the rest. With one start-up’s custom LED lighting system, car owners can achieve both at once.

The lighting system is remotely controlled using WiFi and can be configured with a special app on iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch, or Android devices. Each system is composed of different modules, which can be connected to color-changing or solid colored components installed on the car. Options are available to customize different variables of the lighting, from adjusting a color’s brightness to adding effects like fade, alternating colors (65 billion shades), timing, and several special effects, including “fireworks” and “shimmer” settings, allowing car owners to create truly unique light shows on their automobiles.

To bring the product to life, the company required a custom TXL cable with a hybrid configuration. To keep the product streamlined for user-friendly installation, the custom automotive cable featured several TXL cables housed under one jacket.

Allied was able to provide the custom TXL cable the company needed, and with the best pricing around – something especially important to the business as it worked to increase production while staying within its start-up budget.

Joke of the Month!

Two men, Jim and John, were walking their dogs when they passed by a restaurant. “Let’s go in and get something to eat,” Jim suggested.

“We can’t,” responded John. “Don’t you see the sign says ‘NO PETS ALLOWED’?”

“Aah that sign,” said Jim “don’t worry about it” and taking out a pair of sunglasses, he walked up to the door.

As he tried walking into the restaurant he got stopped at the door, “Sorry, no pets allowed.”

“Can’t you see” said Jim “I am blind; this is my Seeing Eye dog.”

“But it’s a Doberman Pincher, who uses a Doberman Pincher as a Seeing Eye dog?” the man asked.

“Oh,” Jim responded “you must have not heard, this is the latest type of Seeing Eye dog. They do a very good job.”

Seeing that it worked, John tried walking in with his Chihuahua. Even before he could open his mouth, the doorman said “Don’t tell me that a Chihuahua is the latest type of Seeing Eye dog.”

Thinking quickly, John responded in an angry voice “You mean they gave me a Chihuahua?!”
