You’ll (Brotherly) Love AWC’s 25th Anniversary Giveaways

Allied Wire and Cable Philadelphia

Philadelphia, Allied’s hometown, was at the center of our 25th Anniversary celebrations for March. There was a lot of excitement, including seeing Rocky Balboa and Benjamin Franklin face off in our Giveaway Extravaganza episode to determine who would guest host the game show with the lovely Vera White. You also got to know Allied’s hometown team a little better, and explored a Top 25 list of some of the best things to come out of Philadelphia.

We had a great response to our March challenge, where you could earn additional entries in our prize raffles by liking AWC on Facebook and/or following our page on LinkedIn. If you haven’t yet, you have until March 29th to complete the challenge. Details are posted on AWC’s 25th anniversary website.

There’s a lot to look forward to in April. Spring is officially here, and we’re ready for the new growth that comes with the season. We’ll also be celebrating one of the major signs of Allied’s growth over the years – our first branch location in New England.

Your chances to win are growing in April too! We will hold three prize raffles, instead of the normal two.

April will kick off with a brand new episode of our game show, which will introduce our New England theme, reveal our winners and prizes for March, and announce our April challenge. Watch for the challenge, so you know how to earn extra raffle entries, and can grow your chances to win.

Keep an eye on your inbox for updates on our 25th anniversary promos, and good luck in our upcoming raffles!

Fighting Local Hunger with Philabundance

Philabundance Food Drive

This month’s 25th anniversary celebrations put the spotlight on Philadelphia, and we decided there was no better way to celebrate where we come from than to give a little back to our community. Allied employees banded together to do a food and coin drive for Philabundance, a local charity which feeds approximately 65,000 Delaware Valley residents each week.

Philabundance is not only the largest hunger relief organization in the region, but it sets itself apart with an emphasis on providing nutritious foods, such as produce and healthy shelf-stable items, which can be difficult for low income families to afford. Because March is National Nutrition Month, it is even more fitting that Philabundance should be our charity of choice.

The organization distributes its food directly through programs such as its Community Food Center, Food Help Line, and Emergency Food Boxes, and through almost 500 member agencies, including food pantries, shelters, and neighborhood distribution centers. Its mission is to make nutritious food accessible to everyone.

Paying tribute to our hometown and hosting events like our Philabundance food and coin drive is truly making our 25th year in business even more rewarding. Giving back through events such as our annual Charity Week, our Hurricane Sandy drive in November, and sending packages to the troops overseas has always been important to the Allied family, so we are proud to continue the tradition of supporting charitable organizations as we celebrate our 25th anniversary.

If you would like to learn more about food poverty, and how you can support Philabundance and help end hunger in the Delaware Valley, visit the Philabundance website.

Joke of the Month!

This month, even our joke is Philly-themed to go with the AWC’s 25th anniversary celebrations! Enjoy this joke about one of Philadelphia’s most famous characters (and one of the stars of our current game show episode).

One Halloween a trick-or-treater came to my door dressed as 'Rocky' in boxing gloves and satin shorts. Soon after I gave him some goodies, he returned for more.

"Aren't you the same 'Rocky' who left my doorstep a few minutes ago?" I asked.

"Yes," he replied, "but now I'm the sequel. I'll be back three more times tonight too."
