Alert: Industry Price Increases

Price Increase Alert

Asahi Glass Co., headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, recently announced plans to close its PTFE production facility in New Jersey by the end of December 2007. Asahi leaving the market could bring about some changes for PTFE customers. Because the company has been a major producer of PTFE material outputting nearly 4 million lbs a year, the plant closing will likely lead to a price increase on all products containing PTFE by the end of the year.

This includes, but is not limited to:

There are also many other cables made with PTFE that could be affected.

Because of the rising cost of crude oil and the US Dollar valuation in the global market, Belden, Lapp Group, General Cable and Tele-Fonika Cable all have announced price increases.

  • Belden: December 3, 2007, average price increase of 3%
  • Lapp Group: December 10, 2007, base prices will increase for most Olflex and Unitronic Wire & Cable products by an average of 6%, EPIC Connector prices by an average of 10% and Skintop products by an average of 8%
  • General Cable: November 19, 2007, average price increase of 4-7% on Carol Brand of Cord, Cordset, Industrial Flex, and Electronics
  • Tele-Fonika Cable: November 21, 2007, average price increase of 6% on all standard products

Allied Wire will keep customers updated with any future price increases.

Join Allied this Holiday Season helping a Friend and Co-Worker Fight Cancer

Phyllis, Desiree and Debbie

Both Phyllis and her family are part
of our family here at Allied Wire &
Cable. Her daughter, Desiree
McCarty, is a long time sales
assistant, just returning from maternity
leave, and her sister Deb Piergrossi
is the 2nd shift warehouse manager
in PA.

The holiday season is a time to give back to those who are less fortunate. Usually during the holidays, AWC supports a terminally-ill child through the Make-A-Wish Foundation. However, this year we celebrate the saying, "Charity Begins at Home."

In July, Phyllis Rose, AWC's receptionist for over six years, was diagnosed with lung cancer, which has since spread to several other organs. Phyllis has undergone extensive chemotherapy and radiation. Each day, she takes numerous medications to fight the battle.

The bills have taken an extraordinary toll on both Phyllis and her family. That is why we are joining forces in an effort to help offset the ever-increasing medical costs. Between December 17th and 21st, Allied Wire & Cable will donate 1% of all sales to help Phyllis and her family. We hope you'll join us in supporting our colleague and friend this holiday season.

AWC Construction Update

AWC New Building

AWC's new corporate headquarters is coming along nicely. The building is now completely closed in. All outside doors and windows are in place. The walls are sheet rocked and stairs leading to the second floor have been installed. We have even begun to set up our racking in the warehouse. Landscaping has also started. The move is scheduled to take place in the beginning of January 2008.

Allied will provide future updates about construction and the move.
