Charity Week Vote a Success!

Last month, we announced a change in the annual Charity Week process: YOU got to decide the charity! The votes have been tallied, and we have a winner: the Make-A-Wish Foundation!

Allied has been supporting the Make-A-Wish Foundation for many years now. They are a wonderful organization, aimed at granting one last wish for a child with life-threatening illnesses. While the average wish costs about $7000, the families of these children are typically financially strapped and the opportunity to give their children a chance at their having their wish granted is priceless.

In the spirit of the holidays, all of the other charities we featured in the vote will receive a $250 donation as well. These charities are: American Farmland Trust, ASPCA, Autism Speaks, Coalition to Salute America's Heroes, Meals on Wheels Association of America, Susan G Komen for the Cure.

Thank you to everyone that voted! Our Charity Week will run from December 14th to December 18th, and a percentage of all total sales will be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation! Click here to view the Charity Week Flyer.

Lori Paczewski and Kim Morrison – Allied’s Newest Sales Representatives!

Lori and Kim

Continuing to grow during these tough economic times, Allied Wire & Cable is proud to introduce Lori Paczewski and Kim Morrison as the newest sales representatives for the company.

Lori Paczewski joined the Allied Family at the Collegeville, PA headquarters location. She graduated in 2006 from Shippensburg University with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She began working in sales soon after, as a sales representative at Nutrisystem, Inc.

Kim Morrison joined the Merrimack, NH branch location. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in English from Clark University in 1998. One year later, she completed her paralegal certification at Northeastern University. While she is new to the wire and cable industry, Kim has extensive business experience after owning a financial services company with her husband and working in sales and insurance and investment brokerage.

“I was drawn to the company because it focuses so heavily on both its employees and customers,” Kim said. Allied Wire & Cable is confident both women will help bring about continued success for the company and their customers.

Crazy Decorations Abound! Show Us Your Creativity!

With Thanksgiving only a few days away, it’s getting close to the time every neighborhood looks forward to: Holiday Decorations! We’ve all seen the crazy videos of light displays choreographed to holiday songs, but what are the craziest decorations YOU’VE ever done?

This year, Allied will be holding a contest for the best photo of holiday decorations. As you’re setting up your displays, grab a camera and snap some pictures. Then, send them our way!

Here are the rules:

    1. The decorations must be of your design: on your house, in your office or in your cubicle, it doesn’t matter!
    2. They can be for any holiday celebrated in December (Christmas, Hanukah, and Kwanza)
    3. E-mail your submission to holiday@awcwire.com, with the subject line “Holiday Decoration Contest.” We will notify you if there is a problem with your submission.
    4. As we begin to receive the submissions, we will post them on our website to be ranked. Look for a link in the News Section on the Home Page beginning December 1, 2009.
    5. Prizes:
Grand Prize: The picture with the highest ranking by December 18th will win:
  • An Allied Prize Pack including (1) $50 American Express Gift Card
The 1st and 2nd runners up will receive:
  • Allied Prize Packs including (1 each) $25 American Express Gift Card

Good Luck and Happy Decorating!

Copper Prices Still Rising

Copper prices have been on the rise all year, and this month was no exception. While we still haven’t seen anything near the $4 prices of 2008, 2009 opened with prices at $1.66. On November 1st, the prices stood at $3.22, the first time we’ve seen a price that high since September of last year.

During this tough economic time, it is important that we continue to work together. Allied is committed to providing the highest quality products at the lowest prices possible. Customer service is our number one priority, and we will continue to provide up-to-date copper price information so you can better operate your businesses.
