Oktoberfest Promotion in Fall Swing

Official Allied Beer Stein

The month of October is sure to conjure up several different images. Some might think haunted houses, hayrides, and apple picking, while others are thinking about pumpkins—pumpkin patches, baked pumpkin seeds, pumpkin spice lattes, and pumpkin beer. Here at Allied, we're going the pumpkin beer route.

With Oktoberfest recently ending in Munich, we’ve got beer on the mind. Since we couldn’t all jet across the pond to partake in the biggest beer festival of the year, we thought we’d do our best to bring a little taste of it to us. And we’re doing that by giving out 25-ounce customized Allied beer steins!

From now until October 31, if you place an order of $500 or more, you can claim an official Allied beer stein to pour a tall glass of your favorite brew into. Order today before time runs out, and you’ll feel like you’re at Oktoberfest in no time!

For more information, call your sales rep at 800-472-4655 or read more here. Cheers!

Philadelphia Business Journal Honors AWC as Top Family-Owned Business

Philadelphia Business Journal Honors AWC as Top Family-Owned Business

Allied Wire & Cable started in the Flynn family basement in 1988, and the values that the company was founded on have played a significant role in making it into what it’s become today. Owned by the three Flynn brothers, Tim, Dan, and Mike, and their family friend, Chris, Allied is dedicated to a “family first policy.” And they're also dedicated to growing that family.

In September, Allied Wire & Cable was ranked as a top family-owned business in the Philadelphia region by the Philadelphia Business Journal. In order to receive a rank on the list, there were two main criteria that companies had to meet. The company had to be at least 51 percent family-owned, and it had to demonstrate a willingness to provide local employment opportunities.

Because Allied is owned and operated by the three Flynn brothers and their lifelong family friend, the company easily met the first requirement. Since the second requirement was focused around providing local career opportunities, Allied ranked at the top of the list, in the 15th spot with 219 employees at the time the statistics were reviewed.

We will continue to grow opportunities for our community because we aren't the sort of company that's content to rest on our laurels. In fact, just earlier this year, Allied was also honored at SmartCEO's 2015 Family Business Awards, as one of five large companies in the Greater Philadelphia area exhibiting an ongoing commitment to family values. Our commitment to family values isn't a trend; it's a tradition—one we're proud to carry on. Here's to growing the AWC family in Philadelphia and across the country!

When a customer came to us with a custom cable design that they thought could no longer be manufactured, our custom cable experts were up for the challenge. In true Allied fashion, the custom cable team worked hard to produce the custom high voltage wire that the customer thought was obsolete.

Joke of the Month

A man walks into a bar and orders three beers.
The bartender brings him the three beers, and the man proceeds to alternately sip one, then the other, then the third, until they're gone.
He then orders three more and the bartender says, "Sir, I know you like them cold, so you can start with one, and I'll bring you a fresh one as soon as you're low."
The man says, "You don't understand. I have two brothers, one in Australia and one in Ireland. We made a vow to each other that every Saturday night, we'd still drink together. So right now, we're drinking together."
The bartender thinks it's a wonderful tradition, and every week he sets up the guy's three beers. Then one week, the man comes in and orders only two. He drinks them and then orders two more. The bartender says sadly, "Knowing your tradition, I'd just like to just say that I'm sorry you've lost a brother."
The man replies, "Oh, my brothers are fine — I just quit drinking."
