Collegeville, PA – Since previously donating $1 Million to the BLOCS program, Allied Wire & Cable has committed to providing local Catholic schools with another $500,000 over the next two years. The company signed on for another two year term, meaning it will donate $250,000 per year to help fund tuition for Philadelphia area students in need.

Allied Wire & Cable recently committed to another two years of aiding local Catholic schools through the BLOCS program. BLOCS, Business Leadership Organized for Catholic Schools organization, is supported by companies, firms and foundations that unite to grant scholarships, raise endowment funds and support education in the Philadelphia area. Allied started contributing to the organization in 2013, and has since donated $1 Million to education.

By the end of 2017, an additional $500,000 will go to a handful of deserving beneficiaries, which equates to providing $250,000 per year in funding.

For the 2016/2017 school year, Allied will fund six Catholic schools local to the company’s headquarters outside of Philadelphia. The beneficiaries include:

  • Pope John Paul II High School (Royersford)
  • GESU School (Philadelphia)
  • Cristo Rey Philadelphia High School (Philadelphia)
  • Bishop Shanahan High School (Downingtown)
  • Holy Rosary Grade School (Plymouth Meeting)
  • St. Francis of Assisi Grade School (Norristown)

Allied Wire & Cable also chose the BLOCS program as one of the beneficiaries, making a total of seven for the 2016/2017 school year. With a donation going to the BLOCS program, coordinators can grant partial or full scholarships as they see fit.

Bishop Shanahan was particularly pleased with the donation, and says that “one in four students qualify for and need these tax dollars.” In a letter to the company, the president, Sr. Regina Plunkett, said, “Thank you seems so small when the impact of your gift to Bishop Shanahan High School is so large!”

The company looks forward to aiding children in their education and continuing to support the BLOCS program.
