Hatters Robotics Competes Using Allied Wire

4/21/2022

Congratulations to Hatboro-Horsham High School’s FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics Competition Team 708 - Hatters Robotics on their successful season! Allied is a proud supporter of the team, donating 6 AWG welding cable for them to use for their battery leads.

This year, Team 708 built a robot just shy of 4ft tall, named Redemption, to compete in the Rapid React season. Their flexible intake brought in the cargo which traveled through their s-shaped ball path to their shooter and into the goal. Learn more about the team and their robot on their team website team708.org.

Hatters Robotics competed at two district competitions, the FMA District Hatboro-Horsham Event and the FMA District Springside Chestnut Hill Academy Event. At the Hatboro-Horsham event, the team ranked 23rd overall and earned the District Chairman’s award for their outreach efforts and spreading the message of FIRST and STEM, which auto-qualified them for the District Championship. They made it to the semi-finals before being knocked out of the competition. At the Springside Chestnut Hill event, they ranked 14th overall, were knocked out in the quarter-finals and took home the Quality Award which celebrated machine robustness in concept and fabrication.

Their overall ranking in FIRST Mid-Atlantic and their Chairman’s Award win from HH qualified them to compete in the District Championship at Lehigh University from April 7-9. Going into the competition, they were ranked 30th out of 128 teams and competed against 59 other teams. They fought hard and ended the qualification matches ranked 22nd and were once again knocked out in the quarter-finals by the team that went on to win the event. They earned the Quality Award for the second time this season and ended up ranked 21st overall in the District, making them just shy of qualifying for the FIRST Championship in Houston, Texas.

The talented students that comprise Team 708 - Hatters Robotics are sure to go on and do great things, and Allied is happy to help them achieve their goals! We wish them luck as they continue into their off-season endeavors and future competitions.
