What is UL 1061 lead wire?

UL 1061 lead wire is a solid or stranded single conductor cable originally intended for use in electrical and electronic accounting, bookkeeping, and time recording machines. A specific requirement is that UL 1061 wire is protected adequately against mechanical damage inside the equipment chassis. It has an extruded semi-rigid polyvinyl chloride insulation with a nominal insulation thickness of 0.009 inches and a maximum voltage rating of 300 volts. You can get the wire in a range of American Wire Gauge sizes from 30 AWG to 14 AWG. Many sizes have dual UL 10002 and military specification M16878 Type B ratings. UL 1061 wire has a maximum temperature rating of 80°C.
