Being a part of GCG for nearly 10 years has been a defining pinnacle in my life. I have worn many hats throughout my career at GCG, which has enabled me to grow as an individual contributor, but also a leader. GCG has supported me in the development of my general business acumen through genuine coaching and mentorship, which I have been afforded to mirror as I have facilitated the building and progression of motivated teams. From Account Manager to Vice President, several markets to the all-encompassing  offerings that GCG now provides, I have had strong pride in being a part of the GCG family.

As Vice President of Industrial, Government, & Defense group, my team of Market Leaders and I focus on implementing impactful programs, projects, and industries with power and connectivity solutions that impact all of us, everyday. From supporting power and communication applications for our military and defense servicemembers, to facilitating a swift ride on the rail system at the airport to get to your next gate, we stand ready to proactively provide the most optimal solutions.

A Journey of Skill and Adaptability

Imagine starting your journey in Receiving and quickly mastering the role, earning recognition for your exceptional performance. That was my story when I joined GCG CPS in the third week of January 2023. Five months later, I was awarded Employee of the Month. My skill and adaptability didn't go unnoticed, and in September 2023, I was asked to cross train and assist the Purchasing team.

In my current role as Receiving Associate, I unload incoming freight and ground packages of material, ensuring the correct items are received by reading print on wire/cable or micing material. I meticulously reference packing slips, certifications, and other paperwork to match them with material received and purchase orders in Rubicon. Entering material in purchase orders is a crucial part of my responsibilities, which includes recording manufacturer details, origin, lots, and dates of manufacture to create labels identifying material. Organization, computer skills, multitasking, and attention to detail are paramount in this role.

As a member of the GCG team for nearly a decade, I strive to contribute to our mission by supporting my colleagues and sharing my knowledge. My journey here has been nothing short of exhilarating, filled with opportunities to drive change, inspire my team, and elevate our operations to new heights. Speaking of colleagues, the sense of community at GCG is strong, especially during celebrations and get-togethers, where folks from all levels, from the warehouse to the CEO, come together for conversations and connections. While GCG is a large company with vast resources, we still maintain the look and feel of a family-owned company.

Two years ago, I embraced innovation here at GCG. For context: I was initially hesitant about adopting the Redzone program at our Collegeville location, but now I recognize its significance as a vital tool for our operations. Redzone's SaaS software fosters collaboration among workers, enhances productivity through problem-solving with real-time data, and ensures compliance and reliability while facilitating continuous learning and skill development among our workforce.

Driving Customer Success & Growth

What really excites me about the Territory Sales Manager role is the ability to be flexible and responsive to our customers' needs, ensuring they can complete their projects successfully. Additionally, the opportunity to drive new business for GCG is incredibly motivating. For example, we recently implemented a solution that significantly boosted a customer's productivity on their production line, enabling them to serve their customers more efficiently. This not only benefits our customers but also ensures long-term business for us. I'm eager to contribute to our growth and am excited about the direction our company is heading in.

We recently had a great opportunity with one of our current customers, but unfortunately, we didn't have the product in stock at our facility. However, one of our other legacy brands had the stock available to support our customer's needs. This allowed us to offer a comprehensive GCG solution, enabling the customer to purchase everything they needed from us and streamline their production process. It was a perfect fit for our customer and demonstrated our ability to support them as one cohesive GCG company.

As a remote employee, the work-life balance at GCG has been exceptional for me. We're provided with plenty of PTO for recharging and spending time with family, which is incredibly valuable. Additionally, the company offers great insurance benefits that support our families. Through specific sales training, I've been able to enhance my abilities and continually improve. It's a daily exercise to continuously think of ways to improve on the way we buy, and that's what I like most about working here. In purchasing, it's important to stay a beat ahead of any industry changes in order to not be affected negatively.
