DLO Cable

Diesel locomotive cable, also known as DLO cable, is a flexible portable power cable designed for use in diesel-electric locomotive engines. However, it is also suitable for use in heavy-duty power applications and motor leads where ruggedness and reliability are critical. Our DLO cable features a stranded tinned copper conductor, EPR insulation, and a CPE jacket. It has a maximum temperature rating of +90°C and a voltage rating of 2000V. Our DLO cable also has UL Type RHH/RHW-2, CSA Type RW90, and MSHA approval.

Our DLO Cable has tremendous resistance to impacts and abrasion, and can also resist sunlight, alkalies, oil, heat, and fire. The thermoset insulation provides excellent flexibility and abrasion resistance. The flexible stranded tinned copper conductor also improves this cable's length of life. We carry diesel locomotive cable from 14 AWG to 020.2 MCM. Since DLO Cable is used for many applications besides diesel-electric locomotives, it is often compared to Welding Cable.   • In accordance with Subject 6140 from Underwriter Laboratories, DLO is also able to be used for wind turbines that are powered at a maximum of 2000 volts.

DLO Cable for Panel Builders

Panel shops, OEMs, system integrators, and industrial power system builders may use DLO cable for high-amperage, flexible power connections in power distribution equipment, generator systems, UPS and battery backup systems, motor control applications, and heavy-duty machinery. For panel builders, DLO cable is often relevant when the application requires durable 2kV power cable that can be routed more easily than stiffer power conductors.

DLO cable is commonly selected for demanding industrial environments because it offers a stranded tinned copper conductor, EPR insulation, and a CPE jacket designed to resist impact, abrasion, oil, flame, sunlight, chemicals, and vibration. Compared with welding cable, DLO cable offers a higher voltage rating and approvals that may make it more appropriate for power circuit applications where listed cable and documentation are required.
