Our SO 10/4 10 gauge cable is part of our Power Cables & Portable Cord line of Wire & Cable. SO 10/4 is composed of a 104/30 stranded bare copper conductor with ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber (EPDM) insulation and thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) jacket materials. These cables are rated for a voltage of 600 volts, an amperage of 25 amps, have a temperature range of -40°C to 90°C, and weigh approximately 355 lbs/MFT. SO Cord and SOW Cable are designed for use in portable tools and equipment, as well as portable appliances, small motors, and associated machinery.
Please note that SO and SOW have been superseded by SOOW. SOOW has both an oil resistant insulation and an oil resistant outer jacket while SO and SOW have only an oil resistant outer jacket. Any SOW or SO Cord parts entered for RFQs will be quoted as SOOW.
Why Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer / EPDM?
EPDM or Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer is a category of manufactured rubber insulation. Chemically cross-linking thermoplastic Elastomer or TPE leads to its creation. EPDM provides resistance to moisture, durability, and great flexibility. These characteristics enable it to function well in harsh climates and high voltages, making the 10/4 so cord or 10/4 so cable an excellent choice for high-temperature applications.
Why Thermoplastic Elastomer / TPE?
TPE or Thermoplastic Elastomer is a combination of plastic and rubber within a durable compound, which can handle temperature extremes well. Chemically crosslinking TPE produces EPDM or Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer.
