UL1007 is a polyvinyl chloride insulated hook-up wire with a maximum voltage rating of 300 volts. This UL-approved appliance wiring material wire has tinned copper conductors for improved moisture, oxidation, and corrosion resistance. The wire's PVC insulation resists abrasion, moisture, ozone, acids, solvents, and fungus. It has good flame resistance. Applications include the internal wiring in electrical and electronic control panels as well as generators, turbines, and transformers. UL 1007 wire is available in a range of ten colors. Some versions have dual UL ratings.

UL 1007 Wire Construction
Conductors
UL AWM 1007 wire uses solid or stranded tinned copper conductors. Tinned copper has superior corrosion resistance and does not oxidize at high temperatures. It is easy to solder, and crimped connections retain their conductivity. Available sizes are from 30 AWG to 10 AWG for stranded conductors and from 28 AWG to 16 AWG for solid conductors.
Insulation
Allied Wire and Cable's UL 1007 wire uses PVC insulation with a thickness of 16 mils (0.016 inches). UL 1007 PVC insulation has good resistance to oils, acids, and chemicals and retains its flexibility down to minus 40 degrees Celsius. UL 1007 wire insulation has a maximum temperature rating of 80 degrees Celsius.
UL 1007 Applications
UL 1007 hook-up wire is an appliance wiring material suitable for use in the internal wiring of equipment in terms of UL 758. The wire has good abrasion resistance. Typical applications for this wire include the internal wiring of electrical and electronic equipment including switchgear, transformers, generators, and turbines. UL 1007 wires with solid conductors and those with seven strands are semi-rigid and not suited for flexing applications.
Dual Ratings
Most UL 1007 wires have a dual UL 1569 AWM rating, with a maximum usable temperature of 105 C. While still rated for a maximum voltage of 300 volts, UL 1569 wires also comply with the Canadian Standards Association TR-64 requirements that allow a maximum temperature of 90 C. Some wires also carry a dual UL 1581 rating, which permits use immersed in oil up to a maximum temperature of 80 C.
