The cable that is being used for portable power supply or in mining equipment that has a ground wire for every conductor within the cable is considered Type G cable. A 4 conductor type G cable would have 4 ground wires.
Type G cable can be used in a variety of heavy-duty applications including direct burial and submerged applications. All of our type G cables have 4 conductors and runs from 8 gauge to 500 MCM. You can use this cable between -40°C to +90°C and is rated for up to 2000 volts.
Type GGC wire has a ground wire for each power side wire with an additional ground check wire.
The “ground check” wire in type GGC cable monitors the grounding circuit. This check wire system is used in mining applications where a ground check conductor is required for ground monitoring. Applications can include mine pumps, shuttle cars, and conveyors.
To keep these cables flexible in a variety of conditions they are wrapped in EPDM insulation with a black CPE jacket for oil and abrasion resistance. Both of our Type G and Type G-GC cables are UL 1581 rated for vertical/horizontal wire flame testing. They also pass the MSHA Flame test.
