SGX Cable Specifications
What are SAE J1127 Standards?
According to SAE International, the SAE J1127 Standard covers low voltage battery cable intended for use at a nominal system voltage of 60 VDC (25 VAC) or less in surface vehicle electrical systems. The tests are intended to qualify cables for normal applications with limited exposure to fluids and physical abuse.
Type SGX Cable Applications:
- Battery terminal & starter and grounding on tractors, trucks, RV's, lift trucks, buses, boats, and cars.
Type SGX Cable Construction:
- Conductor: Bare copper for excellent electrical conductivity, corrosion resistance, and cost-effectiveness being especially well-suited for grounding applications.
- Insulation: Cross-Linked Polyethylene (XLPE) for excellent thermal and chemical resistance. XLPE insulation can withstand higher temperatures and is highly resistant to chemicals, making it ideal for use in a wide range of environments, including industrial and outdoor applications.
- Options: Available in stranded battery circuit colors of black and red to maintain a standardized and consistent way of identifying wires in electrical systems with an additional option of custom printing available.
- Gauge: 4/0 - 6
Type SGX Cable Features:
- Can be used for automotive starters or battery grounds where resistance to abrasion, acids, alkalis, coolant, diesel fluid, ethanol, flame, gas, ozone, power steering fluid, oil, transmission fluid, heat, and aging as needed.
- Meets the requirements of SAE J-1127
- Meets the battery cable requirements of UL 558 and UL 583
- SGX wire has a recommended temperature range of -40°C to +125°C
