New Video: Value-Added Services

Allied is proud to premiere the newest addition to our collection of Educational Videos. In this one, we discuss the customization and value-added services that we provide for our products. If you've ever been curious about what we can do before shipping your order to you, but aren't sure what a particular service actually entails, check out the video for explanations and footage of the services themselves.

We offer many Identification, Installation, Shipping and Inventory Solutions to help you do your job faster. You'll never have to twist your own cable with a drill again, which can cause dirt to build up inside the cable and degrade its performance. And have you ever tried to identify specific conductors when there are more than 10? Allied can add contrasting-colored stripes so no two conductors are the same, allowing you to choose the right one every time.

Click here to watch the video and see all the ways Allied can help you get the wire and cable you need, the way you need it.

PA, NH & NV Add New Reps as Allied Continues to Grow

Ryan Baldinelli & Paul Lawruk of Allied Wire & Cable

August was a busy month for new Allied Employees! We've continued to grow by adding new sales representatives to our Pennsylvania, New Hampshire and Nevada locations.

Paul Lawruk, formerly of Omni Cable, joined the sales team in our Collegeville, PA Headquarters. A graduate from Misericordia University in 2007, Paul quickly went on to join the wire and cable industry in 2008 and spent two years with Omni. Most recently, he worked with Verizon Business as an Account Manager, further broadening his sales experience.

"I always had a great relationship with Allied in my past wire and cable experience," Paul said. "Now I'm proud to say I am part of the AWC Family."

The newest Allied branch in Las Vegas, Nevada has added wire and cable newcomer Kristy Ventura. While Kristy hasn't had direct experience in the industry, she has spent several years working in the Industrial industry, having worked for Anacapa Micro Products and R&B Welding Applications. Also new to the industry, Ryan Baldinelli joined our New Hampshire branch. Fresh out of college, Ryan has worked in sales before, with Comcast.

"Allied has been great," Ryan said. [There are] many knowledgeable professionals in the company with accessibility [to] everyone, even the owner! It’s great to know a company has your back."

With this blend of experience and new perspectives, our sales team will continue to learn about new industries and applications that will allow them to provide the best service to their customers. Please join us in welcoming Paul, Kristy and Ryan to the team! If you'd like to read more about them, and the rest of our sales staff, please check out our Key People page.

Joke of the Month!

A renowned philosopher was held in high regard by his driver, who listened in awe at every speech while his boss would easily answer questions about morality and ethics.

Then one day the driver approached the philosopher and asked if he was willing to switch roles for the evening's lecture. The philosopher agreed and, for a while, the driver handled himself remarkably well. When it came time for questions from the guests, a woman in the back asked, "Is the epistemological view of the universe still valid in an existentialist world?"

"That is an extremely simple question," he responded. "So simple, in fact, that even my driver could answer that, which is exactly what he will do."

Allied Encyclopedia – Cable Marking and Printing Methods
Cable markings make identification and branding easy. But there are so many printing methods available that it can be difficult to determine which is best for your cable and application.

There are several different factors that go into deciding which printing method will work best. We will go over each of them so that you can better choose between your options. Read more about Cable Marking and Printing Cables

Allied Encyclopedia – Temperature Ratings
Temperature ratings are arguably some of the most important characteristics to consider when choosing wire and cable. Temperature ratings are included on product spec sheets, in cable ratings produced by organizations such as Underwriters Laboratories (UL) or CSA International, and are sometimes even stamped right on the cable jacket. The fact that temperature plays into all of these things should give you just a small idea of how important it is.

However, sometimes these ratings seem to be overlooked by those unfamiliar with different wire specifications. Let’s take a look at the basics of temperature ratings so you can take them into account during your next cable purchase. Read more about Temperature Ratings for Wire and Cable
