AWC eUpdate Newsletter January 2015

We are True to our Word!

Accuracy and Reliability are two of our Biggest Priorities

Here at Allied Wire & Cable, we take pride in our customer service abilities and when we make a promise, we take it seriously. So when it comes to our top two commitments – In By One, Consider it Done, and our 99.9% warehouse shipping accuracy – we strive to go above and beyond.

In By One, Consider it Done
We have promised that all standard-item orders placed by 1:00 PM (Eastern) will ship the same day. And if we don’t ship by that guideline, Allied pays the freight. We take this commitment seriously, and have stayed true to our word. Out of over 200,000 line items shipped in 2014, our warehouse only missed one order. This is an outstanding feat, and we are proud to provide our customers with such diligent service.

No One’s Perfect, But Our Warehouse Almost Is – 99.9% Accuracy
We have also vowed to be almost perfect, meaning that we aim to keep our warehouse errors as low as 0.1%. For the year 2014, a total of 209,651 items have been shipped to customers all over the world. Out of that number, only 175 orders were returned due to warehouse error. This puts us at 99.92% accurate, and that is where we want to be. In fact, statistics show you have a better chance of being struck by lightning than finding something wrong with your Allied order.

Each year we surpass our percentage from the previous year, and we keep improving. In 2012, we shipped a total of 174,919 orders and had 269 returned, placing us at 99.84% accuracy. In 2013, we shipped a total of 191,557 orders, and had 196 returned, achieving 99.89% accuracy. Each year we improved our numbers, and each year we got closer to our goal.

Every customer deserves our best, and we will always strive to do better than our best! If you’d like to take advantage of one of these customer service guarantees, read more about them here or talk to a sales rep today!

A Penny for your Thoughts - Our Prizewinning New Feature

This year marks the launch of a brand new monthly feature in our newsletter—Penny for Your Thoughts. It’s just what the title sounds like—except the reward is a bit better than a penny. Put in your two cents and we’ll enter your name in the raffle for an Amazon gift card!

We ran a similar feature in the sidebar of our football pool page this season—The Sideline Challenge—and it was a big hit. Our football fans helped us test it, but now we’re opening this opportunity up to all our newsletter readers!

If you haven't already subscribed to our newsletter, make sure you do. That way you’ll never miss a chance at a prize.

Allied Begins Sales Team Expansion with First New Hire of 2015, Jessica Weiss!

Allied Begins Sales Team Expansion with First New Hire of 2015, Jessica Weiss!

Allied Wire & Cable is gearing up for some big changes – a significant sales team expansion in 2015 is underway due to our unparalleled growth and development. Many of our AWC locations will be gaining additional sales support, including our headquarters in Pennsylvania.

We have made the first step towards expansion by welcoming new sales rep, Jessica Weiss, to the Allied team. Weiss is the first of many new hires for 2015, and comes to us with a Liberal Arts degree from Montgomery County Community College. Although she is new to the wire and cable industry, she brings prior sales and customer service experience to her new position in our PA location.

When asked about her new role, Weiss stated, "I am very excited to be a part of the Allied team and to start this new chapter in my professional life!"

Allied is thrilled to have Jessica Weiss on board, and we are confident that she and our future new hires will be a great fit within the team. Get better acquainted with Jess, and put some old familiar names to faces on our Key People page here.

Wrapping up Charity Week with an Update from Our Beneficiaries!

Charity Week was a Huge Success!

A lot of hard work and care goes into pulling off our yearly Charity Week event, so we’re always happy to see a lot of good come out of it! Together with our customers, we raised a combined $18,145.74 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and The Humane Society in our 9th Annual Charity Week. Earlier this month, we had the opportunity to meet with representatives from both groups. We presented them with the donations and they told us a little about where the funds will go.

The total amount raised was split between the two organizations. The Make-A-Wish Foundation received $9,000, and Director of Partnerships & Communications Karen Traten thanked AWC for our years of loyal support. She reminded us of the “important, lifelong impact” the wishes granted by our donation will have on the children their organization serves.

PA State Director of the Humane Society Sarah Speed—and her four-legged friend, Sonya!—accepted the other $9,000 on behalf of her organization. She said our gift will support several efforts at the Humane Society, specifically citing "cracking down on puppy mills, putting an end to dogfighting and working to ban tethering statewide."

We are pleased to see how our hard work and the generosity of our customers are making a difference. Many thanks to these organizations for letting us get involved, and to our customers who helped us raise the funds! See the full press release for more details on the outcome of Charity Week 2014.

Joke of the Month!

Sally was taking an afternoon nap on New Year's Eve before the long night of festivities began.

After she woke up, she confided to Max, her long-time boyfriend, "I just dreamt that you gave me a diamond ring for a New Year's present. What do you think it all means?"

"Aha," Max said mischievously, "you'll know tonight," he answered smiling broadly.

Sally could barely contain her excitement at the thought of getting engaged.

At midnight, as the New Year was chiming, Max approached Sally and handed her small package. Delighted and excited she opened it quickly. There in her hand rested a book entitled, "The Meaning of Dreams."
