Allied's Many Moves in September

Allied NH moves, AWC Gives 1st Scholarship, & Groundbreaking of new Warehouse Space

It's been a busy month here at Allied. The company has continued to grow, even after adding 3 new sales representatives last month. We've now moved to a new location in New Hampshire and begun working on added warehouse space in our Collegeville headquarters!

The gang in Merrimack packed up and headed down the road to a newer, larger office space at the beginning of the month. As the branch continues to grow, the sales team quickly outgrew their old space on Continental Blvd. Their new space on Al Paul Lane is twice the size of the old location at roughly 5000sq.ft, which will allow them some much needed breathing room…and room to grow some more in the future!

In addition, the warehouse in Collegeville also needed some breathing room. We've broken ground on a brand new addition that will increase the total size to 101,000 square feet. When completed, the warehouse alone will have 73,500 square feet! This will add 33% more space for us to stock products and provide faster turnaround times. The new addition is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.

As we continue to grow it allows us to do more, not only for our customers, but for our employees as well. This year marked the beginning of a new tradition for Allied: the Annual AWC Scholarship Program. Each year, eligible employees with a child in their senior year of high school may submit an application that includes an essay from the student on why he or she should be chosen for the scholarship. The winner is given a $10,000 Scholarship to be paid out over their college career.

Matthew Rayner, son of warehouse employee Ron Rayner, was chosen as the first recipient of the AWC Scholarship Program. He is a freshman at Penn State Abington this fall where he is studying education. As a four-year honor student, we're confident he will be successful in his journey to become a teacher.

"If you work hard enough in life, anything is possible. I saw that the eight times Matt went up on stage at graduation and I see that every single day," Matt's father Ron said. "He works very hard at everything he does…to say that we are proud of what he has done would be an understatement.”

Allied's CEO, Tim Flynn went on to say, "Allied Wire & Cable has always has taken pride in helping those with needs in our community.  The opportunity to help an immediate member of the Allied family achieve greatness is very rewarding. We wish Matt the very best and we know he will make us all proud."

Thank you for your continued loyalty; without our customers support, we'd never be able to grow the way we have the past few years. Because of you, we've grown both physically with larger locations, and in our capabilities to provide you with more stock and faster service, and our employees with added opportunities for personal growth in their families.

Allied Now Offering Cicoil Flat Cables!

New Video from Allied: Value-Added Services

Allied Wire & Cable is proud to announce that we are now authorized to distribute Cicoil's many flat cable products. Cicoil has been the leader in flat cables since the company was founded in 1956, and they specialize in manufacturing their flat cables with silicone rubber. With products ranging from high flexible cable to ribbon and data cable, Cicoil has all the flat cable products you need for aerospace, military and networking applications.

Cicoil's Hi-Flex Unshielded Cable is available in 8 different configurations: 1-4, 6, 8, 10 or 12 conductor flat silicone cables. Manufactured using tinned copper conductors and extruded silicone rubber insulation, Hi-Flex cables are both durable and flexible with a flex life of over 10 million cycles. They can be used in temperatures ranging from -65°C to 260°C and can be exposed to water, harsh environments, abrasion, UV light, radiation, vibration, steam, salt and certain chemicals.

Their Motion Series (MS) Cable is available as either the original ribbon style design or the improved compact Motion Series PLUS flat cable. Both options offer power and signal conductors in one, ultra-flexible cable. The original MS cable is manufactured for linear motion applications and for small spaces. Motion Series PLUS cable has all the benefits of the original, with added PTFE hollow tubing for liquid and gas transmission and Cicoil's StripMount™ integral, reinforced strip for easy mounting to any surface.

Cicoil also offers Ribbon Cable, High Voltage Cables and Value Added Cable Assemblies. Their flat ribbon cable is available as either 0.050" Pitch or 1mm Pitch (space between the wires) to accommodate both English and Metric measurements. High Flex Flat Camera Link and Cat 5e bulk cable and assemblies are also available, as are High Flex-High Voltage Silicone Rubber Single Conductor Cable and Co-Extruded Silicone Rubber High Voltage Round Cable.

If you're looking for a flat cable that's not an off-the-shelf product, Cicoil is an expert at custom flat cables. When cables need to be stacked together, additional abrasion & chemical resistance is required or where a lower friction surface is desired, Cicoil offers optional low friction coatings. Add together Allied's expertise with custom built cables, and you're sure to find the exact cable you need by choosing Cicoil and Allied Wire & Cable for your flat cable needs.

For more information on Cicoil and their products, please contact your Allied Sales Rep, or send us a RFQ.

Joke of the Month!

A philosophy professor walks in to give his class their final. Placing his chair on his desk the professor instructs the class, "Using every applicable thing you've learned in this course, prove to me that this chair DOES NOT EXIST."

So, pencils are writing and erasers are erasing, students are preparing to embark on novels proving that this chair doesn't exist, except for one student. He spends thirty seconds writing his answer, then turns his final in to the astonishment of his peers.

Time goes by, and the day comes when all the students get their final grades...and to the amazement of the class, the student who wrote for thirty seconds gets the highest grade in the class.

His answer to the question: "What chair?"

Allied Encyclopedia – All About Heat Shrink Tubing, Part 1
Heat shrink tubing is used in many applications by many industries. It starts as a larger tube, which shrinks to fit around different wire and cable components once heat is applied. It is easy to handle, simple to use, and quick to install. However, with all of the different sizing and performance requirements involved in choosing the correct heat shrink tubing product, it can seem intimidating. Read more of Heat Shrink Tubing, Part 1
