Solar Power Cables such as USE-2 and Photovoltaic (PV) Wire are used as wiring for solar panels, underground service entrances, generators, solar charge controllers, service grid, and service terminal connections.

Our XLPE Solar PV Wire consists of an insulated, non-integrally jacketed single conductor. PV solar cable is sunlight resistant. It has a voltage rating of 600V and a maximum temperature of 90°C in wet or dry environments. This type of solar cable is suitable for use in both grounded and ungrounded photovoltaic power systems. We offer PV solar panel cable in several other constructions, gauge sizes, and materials as well.

USE-2 Solar Wire is suitable for use in grounded PV systems only. These solar power cables are crush and impact-resistant. However, they do not have as much low-temperature flexibility, sunlight resistance, and flame resistance as PV wire. PV Wiring also has a thicker jacket and insulation than USE-2 Solar Power Cable.

THHN Wire is used in many industries and can be suitable for solar cable applications, but it should never be used when Photovoltaic Wiring or USE-2 Solar Panel Wire are specifically required. If used in these applications, THHN could fail since it doesn't have the additional strengths of more specialized solar power cables.
