Our Custom Communication Cable Solution
One customer came to Allied Wire and Cable looking for a custom composite communication cable to be used in the manufacturing of their text messaging machines developed for commercial and industrial use. With composite cables, different types of sizes and types of wires can be combined under one jacket. This was ideal for this customer because one cable could be manufactured and installed faster while also making purchasing and inventory management easier.
This cable also needed to be plenum-rated. Plenum-rated cable has insulation with low smoke and low flame characteristics, which is common in communication cables since they are often run through areas with air circulation. Since this cable had building codes and regulations to meet, it was coated with a fire-retardant material in order to limit the amount of smoke and toxic gas given off in the event of a fire.
Allied Wire and Cable was able to accommodate all of the customer’s requirements and built a custom plenum-rated communication cable with a composite construction to meet their exact specifications.
