Portable Cords come in a wide variety of constructions that provide different specifications. You can tell what different portable cords offer by the letters in their name. SJEOOW cords are junior service chords, have a thermoplastic elastomer jacket, and have jacketing and insulation that are oil resistant.
SJEOOW cables are multi-conductor portable cords often used in wiring for industrial machinery, large appliances, heavy-duty tools, motors, mining equipment, and temporary electrical and lighting power for construction sites. Our SJEOOW cable is a bare, annealed copper cable that is rated to 300 volts and has a temperature range of negative 50 degrees Celsius to 105 degrees Celsius. It also has resistance to water, oils, solvents, weather, abrasion and is suitable for submersion in water.
Our Custom SJEOOW Cable Solution
One customer that made aerospace equipment contacted us for an SJEOOW cable that needed minor changes to meet their exact requirements. Since they manufactured equipment for aircraft, they had to meet extra industry standards that normal SJEOOW cables don’t.
They needed to add a braided shield to the cable and change the color code for the conductors. Typically, a three-conductor SJEOOW cable has conductors that are black, white, and green. For this customer, the conductors needed to be the European standard, which is light blue, brown, and green with a yellow stripe. The change in color code and addition of the braided shield, when SJEOOW cables don’t normally come shielded, made this cable a completely custom design.
Our knowledgeable sales representative was able to help this customer meet their requirements and the European Standard. If you are working with a stock item that may need a few changes, visit Allied Wire and Cable’s Custom Cable Design Center and let us know what you are looking for!
