SEOOW cables are high-quality, flexible portable cords that feature oil-resistant jackets and insulation. The jackets in these portable power cables are made of thermoplastic elastomer. This type of material is flexible, even in cold weather, and suitable for heavy-duty use. SEOOW portable cords are also water and weather-resistant. The elastomer jacket also makes them able to snap back into shape after being compressed.
SEOOW portable cords can be used for both internal and external use, as well as indoor and outdoor applications. These portable cords are most commonly used in portable power tools, industrial and commercial lighting fixtures, office equipment power supplies, construction site power fixtures, and industrial floor care equipment. Since it is classified as a hard usage service cord, SEOOW cords have a voltage rating of 600V. The TPE insulation and jacket material give this type of power cable a maximum temperature of 105°C.
Our Custom SEOOW Cable Solution
One Allied Wire and Cable customer in the business of stadium lighting approached our sales team for help building a custom cable. This power cord was going to be used for the Braves’ new lighting system. This customer knew a SEOOW service cord was needed, but the number of conductors needed to power a lighting system of this size was not available in any standard cables. Taking this into consideration, one of our dedicated sales representatives was able to help design a custom SEOOW cable perfectly matched to the customer’s needs.
The custom cable was an 18 AWG, 13 tinned copper conductor SEOOW portable cord with a braided shield and non-hygroscopic polypropylene fillers. This portable cord had to be heavy-duty, suitable for outdoor use, and meet varying specifications. The braided shield, also made of tinned copper, paired with the polypropylene fillers helped to maintain the round shape of the cable. When a cable has as many conductors as this custom cable had, there is a chance that the cable will stray from its circular shape. The tough, oil-resistant TPE jacket also helped maintain the cable's integrity. This cable ended up with a voltage rating of 600V and CSA approval.
