Custom SEOOW Cable

Custom SEOOW Cable

It’s the bottom of the 9th. The ball game’s tied and the bases are loaded. The rain’s coming down, and the stadium lights are beaming. These are the moments players live for—a down-to-the wire game played under the lights.

This phenomenon of playing under the lights is something most people are familiar with. For whatever reason, the game seems to be that much more enticing when the sun goes down and the massive lights bring a stadium to life. But, have you ever thought about how these lights come to life? Well, if we’re talking about the lights at the Atlanta Braves’ new stadium, our very own custom cable experts at Allied Wire and Cable played a role in making that lighting system into what is it and what it will be by the time the Braves throw out that first pitch of the 2017 season.

One of our customers who is in the business of building stadium lighting came to us about a cable to be used for the Braves’ new lighting system. The customer knew he needed an SEOOW cord; however, the number of conductors he needed to handle the power of the lighting system wasn’t within the standard offering for that cable. Taking the customer’s needs for the cable into consideration, Allied Wire and Cable’s custom cable experts were able to design a custom SEOOW cable.

We created an 18 AWG, 13 conductor SEOOW cable with a tinned copper braid and non-hygroscopic polypropylene fillers. The tinned copper braid on the SEOOW cable serves the purpose of shielding the cable, and the specific fillers were used to keep the cable round. When working with 13 conductors, there’s the risk that the cable will stray from the circular shape, so the nonhygroscopic polypropylene fillers were put in place to prevent this problem.

Allied Wire and Cable’s custom cable experts are experienced in designing and manufacturing cables for a plethora of industries, including sports lighting.
